This app streamlines the bacterial identification process by giving step by step instructions using a dichotomous keys system. It focuses on the biotechnology curriculum at Centennial College. However, it can be used in a variety of microbiology, food technology, and medical applications. The bacterial species includes the common laboratory species and food pathogens. The pictorial instructions can be directly compared with the lab results. Tips and alternative tests are outlined to suit for a variety of institutional/research facilities.
This is the first in a series of identification apps, which will target specific microbial taxa.
App was programmed by Saheel Siyam, Grade 9 student at SATEC @W.A Porter.
App Resources and Research compiled by Dr. Siyam Subair, Professor of Microbiology at Centennial College, Canada.
