The solubility parameter (SP value) is an index of solubility. It is an application that can calculate the SP value of the resin by the turbidity titration method. This app is currently available in "Japanese" and "English".

The SP value of each substance is often used to assess the miscibility of two substances. It is said that those with similar SP values ​​are easy to mix.

The theory of SP values ​​is limited to "liquids with known boiling points" in the original definition, but there is also the idea of ​​applying it to resins. The turbidity titration method (method of measuring the cloud point when a poor solvent is added to a resin solution) is famous as a method for measuring the SP value of a resin.

In the titration experiment, acetone was used as a good solvent to dissolve the resin, and water and hexane were used as poor solvents. The SP value of the resin can be calculated simply by inputting the titer in this app.

Since the SP value can be used as an index of the solubility in resin, it can be applied to the evaluation of the relationship between resin and solvent and the compatibility evaluation of resin and resin.

(1) A resin sample [resin amount] 1.0 g and acetone [acetone amount] 99 g are mixed to prepare a 1.0% acetone solution.

(2) Titrate water [water amount] while stirring 10 g of 1.0% acetone solution [acetone amount]. The end point is when the cloudiness does not disappear after 30 seconds.
