Basic usage of "Voice Diary"
Using "Voice Diary" is very simple. With a few simple steps, you can start your own diary right away.
Step 1: Let's record a diary (basic operations)
Start recording
Tap the microphone icon "Record diary" in the center of the tab bar at the bottom of the screen.
Record with a dialogue
A pop-up (dialog) will appear on the top of the screen. This is where you record your diary.
Checking and changing the date: Today's date is automatically entered at first. If you want to write a diary entry from the past, tap the date displayed. A calendar will appear and you can freely select the date.
Voice input: Tap the large microphone button in the center once to start recording. When your smartphone is ready, you will hear a "ping" sound, so please speak slowly at your own pace. Even if you think a little while speaking, the recording will not be interrupted. When you finish speaking, tap the same button again to stop recording. The words you spoke are automatically converted into sentences.
Manual correction: If the conversion of the characters is slightly different, you can always correct it with the keyboard.
Save and cancel: Press the "Save with this content" button to save the diary and close the dialog. Press "Cancel" to close the dialog without saving the contents you wrote.
Step 2: Reread your diary (list and calendar)
You can look back on your recorded diary in two fun ways.
Looking back on the "List" screen
When you select the "List" tab at the bottom, your diary entries will be displayed in reverse chronological order. As you scroll down, the monthly divisions (e.g. "June 2025") will be fixed at the top of the screen, so you can always see what month your diary entry is.
Looking back on the "Calendar" screen
When you select the "Calendar" tab at the bottom, a beautifully colored circle will be marked on the day you wrote your diary entry. When you tap a date, the diary entries you wrote on that day will be displayed in a list below, and you can read the details by tapping again. You can also jump to the year and month you want to see in an instant by tapping the year and month part.
Step 3: Deeply savor your memories (Details screen function)
Select a diary entry from the list or calendar and tap to open the diary details screen.
Book-like design: The cream-colored background that is easy on the eyes and the Mincho font that looks like a book allow you to calmly immerse yourself in the world of your diary. The first line of the text is displayed large as the "title", so you can see the contents of the diary entry at a glance.
Reunite with past memories: The appeal of this screen is at the bottom of the page. Diaries written on the same day one year ago, two years ago, and three years ago are automatically displayed as "Memories of the same day in the past." Enjoy an unexpected reunion with your old self.
Edit and delete: You can edit this diary at any time by pressing the pencil mark in the upper right of the screen. Press the trash can mark to delete the diary after a confirmation message is displayed.
Step 4: Customize to your liking (Settings screen)
Select "Settings" from the tab below to access functions that make the app even more convenient to use.
Switch display layout: You can choose from two types of display for the "List screen", "Standard" and "Compact". "Standard" displays photos and part of the text, while "Compact" displays only the date and title, and you can switch according to your preference.
Backup and restore: A function to protect your important diary. Press "Create backup" to export all diary data as a single file. If you save this file to Google Drive or other places, you can easily transfer your diary when you change your smartphone model by simply selecting "Restore from file".
