Heylhi is an innovative mobile application designed to empower citizens in monitoring and collecting valuable environmental data related to coastal erosion, flooding, and more in the Maldives. Through crowdsourcing and citizen science, the app enables users to document shoreline changes, flood impacts, and other environmental challenges.
Currently, in its 2.0 version, Heylhi supports data collection for tree planting and tree loss, allowing users to track and report changes in vegetation. This new feature plays a crucial role in supporting climate resilience and environmental conservation efforts. The app also continues to allow users to submit photos and information about beach erosion, coastal surges, and flood damage, providing valuable insights for sustainable development and research.
The next phase of Heylhi will introduce additional modules to further expand its impact. The app uses a combination of fixed-location photo markers and free roaming images to create detailed maps and statistics. By involving the community in data collection, Heylhi aims to support climate adaptation strategies and strengthen environmental awareness across the Maldives.
