Private surveillance, as it is still known today, began to be structured in the 1960s, trying to cope with growing urban violence and bank robberies.
But the regularization of economic and professional activity only took place in 1983, with the enactment of Law 7.102/83, which regulates the activities of the employer sector and also of employees.
As the union structure was very rigid and the dictatorship was under pressure, it was difficult for the category to organize itself. But still, the workers went to fight.
The Union was founded on April 26, 1987
In the area of private surveillance, it is the first entity of the State, representing around four thousand workers, being property guards, organic security and personal security. The entity has under its representation 170 Municipalities of the State.
PROBLEMS - The main problem at the base of the entity, today, is the presence of illegal/clandestine companies, which act in disagreement with the Law, harming both employees and service contractors.
THE INFORMATION BODY - O Vigilante, today called SINDVIG-MA, with a print run of 4,000 copies, is the entity's quarterly news organ, with free distribution and was launched in 2004, having since then served as a source of information and guidance to every category.
