*Who are we?*

SpecUdate was founded by a couple college students who want to make an impact on making meeting online a more fun, relaxed, engaging and interactive process for people of all kinds. Who we are is not near as important as the issues we are trying to help solve.


*What is SpecUdate?*

Let's face it, there's a major stigma surrounding dating apps! We believe there are a few reasons why. The dating app concept began as and often still is a simple "YES" or "NO" decision for people when they look at another person's profile and bio. Many apps still follow this long traditional theme.

For someone who relies on dating apps to meet people in their area, you can imagine how this might get a little boring over time, right?! That's what our CEO experienced in his late teen years while he lived away from home in an unfamiliar area. He struggled to consistently spark good conversations with his connections on the many dating apps he tried.

SpecUdate was founded based on the idea that there MUST be a more interactive and fun way for people to connect and get to know each other online than current dating services offer.

So what does SpecUdate do?! It gamifies the whole online dating experience! At the same time, the app uses the game aspect to help people learn more about each other and have more fun, interesting conversations.

When you make a profile on SpecUdate, you also make a "Truth or Lie" game about yourself. This game is shown to other users when they come across your profile on the app.

By having users play each other's games before connecting, SpecUdate makes the online dating experience a much more relaxed and enjoyable process. Additionally, the app rewards you for guessing correct answers.


*What does "SpecUdate" stand for?*

SpecUdate was designed to put high focus on the individual, self-expression, and diversity. The name "SpecUdate" refers to the action of "speculating" about someone in the game itself. The "U" in SpecUdate is capitalized because we care about "U", meaning everyone. SpecUdate is for everyone! We also want you to have the most fun experience connecting online in the best and safest environment we can provide.


*But why does it matter?*

2020 has proven that we all have much more to learn about each other. We must be more open in our conversations, must be more understanding, and we must show more love and compassion for each other and everyone. If there's anything SpecUdate aims to help besides finding great relationships and friendships, it is these things mentioned here.
