In 2005 Sunnafrank and Artemio Ramirez Jr. At Ohio State University conducts research studies on relationships and first impressions. A total of 164 students were evaluated while Ramirez and Sonfrank monitored their relationship for one semester. Watch their interactions as they meet and work together.

The study found that with frequent and continuous exposure to their colleagues during several meetings over the course of a semester, their opinions of their partners remained unchanged from their first impressions after their meeting. Despite the many opportunities to develop relationships, their opinions of others remain unchanged.

The main fact that can be drawn from this research is that people make quick judgments in very little time, and once those first impressions are formed, little can be done to change their opinion. The amount of time you spent with someone after the initial meeting had no effect on first impressions, whether it was 3 minutes or several weeks.

Now apply this idea to your presentation. The show can be as short as 5-10 minutes or as long as 2 hours. Aside from the research mentioned above, the first five minutes are the most important in determining how your audience will feel about their presentation and their relationship to you. Two weeks from now, six months from now, or even two years from now, first impressions will affect your relationship by working with them. Maybe the presentation is a sales meeting. How to start the presentation

1. Open with a story. Personal stories that will engage your audience with you. Opening with a true story related to your topic is the strongest way to achieve a great first impression.

2. Ask about the meaning of the number. What is "23"? The answer should be a shocking fact connecting your topic.

3. Use humor. no kidding! There are many ways to use humor without having to joke around. Cartoons, funny quotes, or whatever original thing that happened to you will do the trick.

4. Use funny videos. She always keeps them calm, and if the clip is good - you attract their attention.
