Hi everyone! ✋ I'm Csaba, a dad of two young kids from Europe. I wanted my children to learn a foreign language in a fun way, so I started looking for a picture dictionary that would be perfect for both of us. When I couldn't find one, I decided to use my software development and teaching experience to create my own with my wife...

This method worked so well that one of my friends, an app developer, tried it with his son and loved it so much he offered to help. Together, we created this app that now helps with learning Chinese. I want to thank Tibor again for his support! ??

How it works and the method:

? Categories and expressions: I've grouped the over 900 Chinese words into more than 30 different categories. The categories range from serious ones for older kids to those specifically designed for the youngest learners.

? Age groups: From simple categories for babies to more advanced content (like the ABCs), the picture dictionary is suitable for children from as young as 2 years old, with parental guidance, all the way up to teenagers.

? Design: The graphics are tailored to children's needs, featuring a colorful and friendly style while the underlying software and content are professional and well-designed.

? Pictures: The method is based on pictures, as each illustration is like a fairytale where objects and creatures come alive, smiling or making funny faces. This playful presentation is not only fun for young children but also helps them easily connect what they see with the Chinese words they're learning, so the knowledge is deeply ingrained.

? Sounds: Each expression is accompanied by both an adult and a child's voice, as children are particularly sensitive to the voices of their peers and pay more attention to them. This not only makes learning more enjoyable but also more effective, helping to deepen the acquisition of Chinese words.

? Playful Chinese learning: In addition to a dedicated learning module (PixiSchool), the app also includes 5 different games that allow children to learn Chinese while playing. The games: PixiMemory, PixiQuiz, PixiPair, PixiSay, and PixiWords, each uniquely helping to practice and reinforce words and expressions.

? Context: Each expression has a short description that provides interesting information or characteristics about the particular creature or object, helping to place the expression in context. If parents or children don't understand a word or expression, the translation is always available in their native language. Of course, these descriptions can also be heard in both child and adult voices for even more enjoyable Chinese learning!

The games and the skills they develop:

? PixiMemory: A classic memory game where children have to match identical pictures. Each correct match is followed by the word on the card being spoken in Chinese, expanding their vocabulary. Develops memory, concentration, and language skills.

? PixiQuiz: Children have to choose the picture that matches the displayed word from four options. If they answer incorrectly, they can try again. This helps with word recognition and visual association.

? PixiPair: Colorful cards must be matched with their black and white counterparts. A successful match is followed by the expression being spoken in Chinese. Develops concentration, fine motor skills, and vocabulary.

? PixiSay: Children have to say the name of the object shown in the picture. If they don't know, they can flip the card to check the correct Chinese pronunciation.

? PixiWords: Children must choose the correct expression from four options that corresponds to the picture. Helps with listening comprehension and reading skills in Chinese.
