Reasons for the revelation of Surat Al-Kafirun
It was narrated that Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah, Al-Aas bin Wael Al-Sahmi, Al-Aswad bin Al-Muttalib, and Umayyah bin Khalaf, in a group of other strongmen of Quraysh and their masters, came to the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and said to him: Come, Muhammad, so follow our religion and we follow your religion, and we involve you in all our affairs. On these surahs, the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, went to the Sacred Mosque in which there was a crowd of Quraysh, so he stood on their heads, then recited to them until he finished the surah, and they despaired of him at that, and they started to annoy him and his companions until the migration was.
