Surat Al-Kahf is a Meccan Surah numbered 18, which precedes Surat Maryam and appends Surat Al-Isra, in the order of the Surahs of the Holy Qur’an. The number of its verses is 110, and it is one of the late Meccan surahs in revelation, as the order of its revelation is 69. The middle surah is the Holy Qur’an, it is located in the fifteenth and sixteenth parts, 8 pages at the end of the fifteenth part and 3 at the beginning of the sixteenth part. The surah deals with several topics, revolving around warning against temptation, preaching and warning, and mentioning some scenes from the Day of Resurrection.

Surat Al-Kahf is one of the surahs with merit in the Noble Qur’an, and it was mentioned in many hadiths, and among its most important virtues is what was mentioned that reciting it on Friday is a light between the two Fridays.

The reason for the revelation of Surat Al-Kahf was mentioned by several commentators, such as Ibn Kathir and others: on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said: “The Quraysh sent an-Nadr Ibn Al-Harith and Uqbah Ibn Abi Muait to Jewish rabbis in Medina, and they said to them: Ask them about Muhammad and describe his description to them and tell them what he said, for they are the people of the first book, and they have them.” He knew what we do not have of the knowledge of the prophets, so they went to the feet of Medina and asked Jewish rabbis about the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, and they described to them his command and some of his sayings, and they said: You are the people of the Torah, and we have come to you to tell us about this friend of ours. I tell you about them, for he is a prophet sent, and if he does not, then the man is saying, so act on your opinion about him. Ask him about young people who went in the first age, what was their matter, for they had a strange matter. And they asked him about a man who made a circumambulation that reached the east and west of the earth, what was his prediction? And Slough for the Spirit what is it? If he informs you of that, then he is a prophet, then follow him, and if he does not tell you, then he is a man who says, so do in his matter what seems to you, so Nadr and Uqba came until they came upon the Quraysh, and they said: O people of Quraysh, we have come to you to separate what is between you and Muhammad. They told them about things, so they came to the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, and said: O Muhammad, tell us. That is a revelation, and Gabriel, peace and blessings be upon him
