In his work "The Secret of the Aruvimi Forest", Ferenc Molnár presents a short horror novel to the readers, in which the plot centers on a state official, Lajos Tisztességes, who is the father of six children. The novel targets the absurdities and corruption of the official bureaucracy. Lajos, who is a decent person, happens to find a bribe money left by Bernát Braunauer, an entrepreneur. During the writing, Lajos' struggle between decency and livelihood unfolds, while we learn about the moral dilemmas of officials and the grotesque world of bureaucracy, in which the situation of decent people becomes increasingly difficult.
It can be a useful and instructive read for everyone. With pleasant on/off background music.
