Baekhyun was born in Bucheon, Gyeonggi, South Korea on May 6, 1992, Baekhyun claimed he was repeatedly rejected when he auditioned. He also gave up and decided to continue his studies by taking the college entrance exam. When he was practicing singing to audition into the art department at a college, a talent scout from SM Entertainment asked him to audition. Then Baekhyun joined SM Entertainment through the 2011 SM Casting System.
Baekhyun was introduced as a member of EXO on January 30, 2012.
