Vasant Panchami, occasionally called Shree Panchami, Saraswati Puja, or the Basant Festival of Kites is a Hindu and Sikh festival held on the fifth day of Magha indicating the beginning of spring and the Holi season. On this day Hindus worship Saraswati Devi, the goddess of music knowledge, artwork and culture.

On the day of Vasant Panchmi , in the Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar, for Sikhs, musicians start the music. This practice continues up until the very first day of Vaisakh when Basant Rag is not used. A fair typically held at the famous Sikh shrine of Guru-ka-Lahore in Bilaspur district to mark the occasion of the wedding of Guru Gobind Singh Ji on Vasant Panchami.
