Sustenance Opening Verse of the Quran is an application that contains the letters of the Qur'an which have many benefits and virtues. One of them can bring unexpected sustenance through listening to or reading letters in the Qur'an.

One of them is the virtue of reading Surah Al Waqiah, namely:

1. Keep away from poverty

Surah Al-Waqiah is known as one of the surahs that will bring sustenance and release from poverty. In a history, Caliph Uthman bin Affan wanted to give some wealth to Abdullah bin Mas'ud and his sons. However, Abdullah bin Mas'ud refused and explained to Uthman that he and all his sons were not afraid of poverty.

He said that he and his son had done one practice that had been taught by Rasulullah ﷺ. “Is Amirul Mukminin afraid that my sons are poor? I have ordered them to read Surat Al Waqiah every night," said Abdullah bin Mas'ud when he was sick before he died.

Then Abdullah conveyed the words of the Prophet ﷺ that he had heard:

مَنْ قَرَأَ سُوْرَةَ الْواقِعَةِ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ لَمْ تُصِبْهُ فَاقَةٌ أَبَدًا

"Whoever reads surah Al Waqiah every night, he will not suffer from poverty forever" (HR. Abu Ya'la and Ibnu Asakir)

In another source, Shaykh Wahbah Az Zuhaili in Tafsir Al Munir narrated by Anas.

In Tafsir Nur Ats-Tsaqalayn, Imam Ja'far Ash-Sadiq explained "Whoever reads the Waqiah surah on Friday night, he will be loved by Allah SWT, loved by humans, does not see misery, poverty, has his needs met, and is kept away from world sickness; This sura is part of Amirul Mukimin's friend who for him has a privilege that is unmatched by the others.

2. Getting Intercession

A Muslim who is diligent and always practices surah Al-Waqiah, then in the hereafter he will get intercession. As narrated by Imam Muslim, Rasulullah ﷺ said: "Whoever longs for heaven and its characteristics, then read surah Al-Waqiah, and whoever wants to see the nature of hell, then read the letter As-Sajadah."

3. Get Peace of Mind

In addition to providing a lot of good fortune, reading surah Al-Waqiah will get peace both in terms of body and soul. This is written in Tsawabul A'mal page 117, Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir (sa) said: "Whoever reads surah Al-Waqi'ah before going to bed, he will meet Allah in a state of face like the full moon."
