Tuljapur, in Maharashtra’s Osmanabad district, is one of the three and a half Shaktipeeths (साडेतीन शक्तीपीठ) of India.
Shivaji Maharaj himself worshipped Mata Tuljabhavani, who blessed him with the strength to establish Hindavi Swarajya.
As described in the Skanda Purana, the Devi appeared to protect Tapasvi Anubhuti and destroyed the demon Kukur. Since then, devotees believe that Tulja Bhavani rushes to help anyone who prays with true devotion.
