The Chief Executive in Council has approved the adjustment of the fares for taxis in the urban areas, the New Territories and Lantau Island, adding $3 for flag drop, and 1.00 to 2.00 cents for each trip, effective July 17.

After the adjustment, the fare for dropping the flag is $27 for urban taxis, $23.5 for New Territories taxis, and $22 for Lantau taxis.

For the first part of the journey, the taxi in the urban area is 1.9 yuan per hop, and the taxi in the New Territories and Lantau Island is 1.7 yuan. The waiting time fee will be adjusted accordingly due to the increase in the fee for skipping the meter after the flag is dropped, and other surcharges will remain unchanged.

The average growth rates of taxis in the urban areas, the New Territories and Lantau Island were 11.54%, 13.02% and 13.83% respectively.
