We have always been the kids who squeeze in a museum visit in the middle of a trip. Who go to art galleries to pester curators on how to understand modern art. Who would give anything to walk for 5 hours through the Louvre.
A challenge we faced at multiple locations, was the presence of audio guides instead of descriptions. Expensive guides that play a recording for each item in the gallery. Sometimes, we want to ask why a marble bathtub in one gallery is more acclaimed than the sculpture in the previous gallery. Sometimes, we want to know where a particular artefact fits into the Indus Valley Civilization's timeline. Did the Greek Civilization know that such people existed parallel to them?
No one ever answered these questions for us. We never found a curator who would leave all their work and walk us through. No one ever told us the stories behind the artefacts. Once, we had dragged a friend to an art gallery and they lamented the absence of any story for them to connect with. We couldn't defend the layout.
It is from these struggles that we realised the need for an interactive, omnipresent, all-aware guide. One who would curate a custom story for me based on my knowledge and time constraints. One that would answer every silly question. One that would wait for us and pick up the story from where it started. If we go to the Shaniwar Wada Fort, we don't just want to hear about the Maratha Confederacy. We want to follow the life of Peshwa Baji Rao. We want a single thread that guides us through the monument.
What's more? We want our journeys doccumented, collated, preserved. To be accessed as a personal repository and to share on social media.
