ROOPSI GARMENTS: A JOURNEY OF EXCELLENCE
Roopsi Garments was established on November 25, 1996, starting as a modest 180-square-foot shop at Chakradhar Nagar Chowk, Raigarh (Chhattisgarh). The founders, Chhaviram Dewangan and Dolnarayan Dewangan, inherited the craftsmanship of manufacturing Kosa silk from their father, the late Mr. Salikram Dewangan. This traditional skill reflects the primary occupation of the Dewangan community. Roopsi Garments aimed to deliver high-quality Kosa textiles to the Raigarh market.
The term “Roopsi”, derived from the Bengali language, translates to “a beautiful woman.” Interestingly, the shop's name was not self-chosen; it emerged from a unique initiative where customers suggested names through letters and postcards. Among the suggestions, “Roopsi Kosa Saree” was selected, symbolizing the connection between the name and the Kosa fabric.
As demand evolved, Roopsi expanded its offerings beyond Kosa silk to include a wider range of clothing. This transition was warmly received, leading to the shop being renamed “Roopsi Garments” to reflect its broader inventory. Over time, additional employees joined, and the shop underwent multiple expansions:
2004: The first expansion catered to increasing customer demands with more varieties of clothing.
2010: A second expansion introduced specialized counters for men's wear, kids' wear, sarees, and handloom products, enhancing customer convenience.
2011: A third expansion solidified Roopsi’s identity as a trusted name in Raigarh and surrounding regions.
Roopsi Garments has earned a reputation for its dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. In response to changing market trends, Roopsi is set to launch “Roopsi Mega Mart”, combining offline and online shopping experiences to better serve its customers.
With over two decades of experience, Roopsi Garments continues to prioritize customer trust and satisfaction, striving to meet the needs of every member of its growing “Roopsi Family.”
