Kid Guard is an administration app suitable for parents who want to control how much and how long their children use the Android device.

This app uses the 'Device Administrator permission': the user will be asked to enable the administrator priviledge if he wants to allow the app to monitor and control the device usage.


The app allows the parent to configure a usage plan for the device with the following strategies:
- configure a limit of hours for the total activity, based on daily / weekly / monthly plans
- configure a tolerance to allow temporary breaks of the limits, to allow save and smooth closure of pending works
- configure a special hour limit for weekends
- configure at most two intervals of 'off-limits' activity: for example, use them for lunch and dinner hours, during which the usage of the Android device is prohibited.

Parents can also configure which specific actions should be taken when the hour limit expires:
- block the WiFi connections
- block the Data traffic connections
- block the Bluetooth interfaces
- lock the entire Device
- block specific apps marked as 'black-list' app: parents can configure which are the 'black-list' apps (for example, social networks, games, etc.)

A light-weight service is running in the background to constantly enforce the usage limits and the configured locking actions.

Phone calls and text messaging are always permitted, for obvious safety reasons.

Only parents can access the Kid Guard configuration panel, using a secure mechanism based on configurable lock-phrase. The application can also prevent force-stop or uninstall, so your usage limit plan is secured and cannot be by-passed.
