Tavunen is a playful application that allows a child to practice Finnish hyphenation and gain fluency in reading.
In the game, words are assembled from syllables according to the model. Friendly animal characters encourage learning and making mistakes is not a problem.
The game starts with short two-syllable words and progresses to increasingly difficult syllables and words as the child's skills develop.
The syllable is spoken in Finnish. It is aimed primarily at children who already know how to read syllables and recognize sounds.
In total, the game contains more than 270 hand-selected Finnish words carefully considered for the best learning results.
Tavuse has five difficulty levels:
1. Two-syllable short words (ko-ti, ka-la, lu-mi)
2. Words with a diphthong in the first syllable (language, huo-li)
3. Short and long sounds (u-ni, uu-ni, pa-lo, pal-lo)
4. Three-syllable words and the äng sound (onki, ä-ly-käs)
5. Challenging and long words (di-no-sau-rus, prin-ses-sa)
You can play tavsta just for fun or under the guidance of an adult in some area, e.g. äng sound, with emphasis. The game doesn't count mistakes, because exploring different options is the best way to learn! Sometimes it's good to press the "wrong" syllables and listen to how they sound.
Tavunen is made in Finland and especially for Finnish-speaking children. The authors have solid experience in children's games, data security and application development, and they are also parents themselves.
In addition to safety, our values include nurturing the excellent Finnish language in digital content made for children.
