Origen Radio was born as a collective voice in the valleys, mountains, and highlands of Cauca, a territory inhabited by the Misak, Nasa, and Pijao peoples. It arose from the desire of young communicators to create a space that spoke from the Indigenous worldview, strengthened identity, and protected their own language. Inspired by the Latá Latá principle, the station is conceived as a tapestry of memory, culture, and territory.

The first antenna was erected thanks to the collaborative work of elders and youth, with the support of the Indigenous Association La Canasta Tsapørap and the Communication, Memory, and Action Network. From a small space in Piendamó, Origen Radio began broadcasting on FM and via streaming, gradually reaching rural areas of Cajibío, Silvia, Caldono, and Morales. Its first programs combined stories in the Namuy Wam language, Indigenous music, interviews with traditional authorities, and educational content about territory, agroecology, and community processes.

Over time, the station has become a powerful tool for cultural resistance and education. On its airwaves, elders share ancient stories, traditional healers (taitas) share medicinal knowledge, women pass on their knowledge of planting and raising children, and young people express their thoughts on life and communication. Each program serves as a bridge between generations and a space to reaffirm Indigenous identity.

Origen Radio is part of AICAP Colombia, a network through which it promotes collaborative productions, broadcasts of assemblies, and multilingual content. Thanks to its digital platforms, the station reaches Indigenous communities both within and outside the country, strengthening cultural unity beyond its borders.

Its mission is based on three pillars: the power of words as life, education as a collective process, and technology at the service of culture. With new equipment and studios, it now covers more than 50 rural communities, becoming a voice of guidance and support during times of emergency or territorial tension.

Recognized as a young and dynamic radio station in southwestern Colombia, Origen Radio remains a vibrant school where words carry spiritual, political, and communal power. From its mountain setting, it continues to remind listeners that their origins live on, in every word they broadcast.
