The Bapong Ba Mogale II community is part of South Africa, and subject to the South African constitution. We are governed by indigenous law, as well as by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Our governance system allows deep community participation and wide accountability in how we administer our plans.
“Bapo” is used to refer to both the tribal grouping as well as the land its members inhabit. The community’s current ruler is Kgosi (Chief) Lebogang M. Mogale, who has reigned since 2020. Kgosi Lebogang Meso Mogale is the 4th kgosi, or chief, of the Bapo Ba Mogale II Community . Bapo Ba Mogale II nation is located in North West Province of the Republic of South Africa.
The Bapong Ba Mogale II community is a group of over 6 000 Setswana-speaking people, living in eight sections of our village. The sections are led by a Kgosana, aided by a team of Lekgotla-based office-bearers. As a collective, the Lekgotla constitutes of a total of 10 Traditional Council members and Dikgosana. The Traditional Council is a body of elected and appointed leaders. This is a group of diverse leaders, representing various sections in our community, who serve for a five-year period. Certain decisions are referred to our community meetings, an open platform for all adult Bapo.
