Pondok Pesantren as a center for the study and development of Islamic sciences has a significant role, because it is in the midst of a Muslim-majority society. The strategic position of Islamic boarding schools will contribute to the formation of the image of Islam in Indonesia. This role will only be able to be carried out if Islamic Boarding Schools offer various alternative studies that are comprehensive and solutive to various problems of the ummah.
The Bahrul Huda Islamic boarding school was founded in 2001 by Ayatullah Mirza Kurnia to be precise in Sarangmandi village, Sungaiselan sub-district, Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province. Bahrul Huda Islamic boarding school was founded on a dream when he was still studying on the island of Java. This dream made him have to return to his hometown, because all this time he had lived in the city of Jakarta. Bahrul Huda, which is used as the name of the pesantren, means sea of guidance, because the island of Bangka is indeed surrounded by sea. The founder's hope is that this Islamic boarding school will become a sea of guidance for the wider community.
The Bahrul Huda Islamic boarding school initially received support from the local community. But what power because the funds needed to build so large. The surrounding community can only pray, there are even some who say that it is an impossible thing to happen, because they have long wanted to have a madrasah, but it has been two years and this has not materialized even though the funds are only twenty million, while pesantren need billions of rupiah. The strong will of the founders is unwavering. He assured by saying to himself that "if you help God's religion, then God will help you". Based on that, then right on the 7th of July 2001 began the laying of the first stone.
