في هذا البحث لم نتناول شخصية معاوية من منظور بانورامي أو كرونولوجي، مع إضافات موثقة حول معاوية كشخص، ودور عبد الله بن جعفر الطيار في حياة هذا الخليفة – الملك على وجه التخصيص. قد تبدو النصوص متناقضة أحياناً، لكن ذلك التناقض هو جزء من الصراع السياسي الذي أشرنا إليه في ذلك الحين.
