The House Cost Calculator is a simple web/mobile application to calculate the cost of various housing typologies, sizes, and designs mostly prevalent in the earthquake-affected district. The tool will allow users to select the preferred housing typology, design, and size. Additionally, it also incorporates the adjustments for salvage materials (including other materials available) and labor contributions from the beneficiary if one is willing to contribute. For materials to be bought from the market, the tool allows one to choose the market center. Material prices for many districts are already collected and embedded in the systems. The user can specify their own if required. The tools will also calculate the cost of transportation of materials from the market to the site of construction.
It will be mainly used by NRA engineers and partners but equally useful for the house owner, pretty contractors, lead mason, and any house construction technician during reconstruction. It Is applicable beyond reconstruction as well as a potential source of information for HHs. This tool will be the first of its kind and has a high possibility of replication and appreciation by the global shelter community.
