Herrera del Duque is a municipality and Spanish town of the province of Badajoz, in the autonomous community of Extremadura, located northeast of the province. It is included in the region of Siberia, is head of the homonymous, 2 judicial district and one of the three deaneries of the Archdiocese of Toledo in Extremadura.
Its municipality covers an area of 277.3 square kilometers, which confers on the twenty sixth largest community; with an average altitude of 468 msnm.3 In 2016 it had 3614 inhabitants, 4 which gives a population density of 13,27 hab / km², divided into two towns: the municipality and the hamlet of Peloche. By number of inhabitants is the most populous of the region since the sixteenth century and center of influence of neighboring municipalities. The population is located in the middle reaches of the Guadiana river, in the so-called marsh area, which also attract tourism related to water and hunting world, provide electricity and water for irrigation areas of the province of Badajoz .5
