The Bagh Mitra application, developed by WWF India (Worldwide Fund for Nature – India), is designed to support the Forest Department in areas close to Forests and Protected Areas, such as Tiger Reserves, National Parks, and Wildlife Sanctuaries. The app supports the department in improving Human-Wildlife conflict management.
This app is intended for trained volunteers (referred to as "Bagh Mitra") with pre-configured logins and is not for public use.
Key features include:
Incident Recording: Volunteers can record various incidents including:
- Species Record: Report sightings of wildlife species.
- Human Casualty: Record any incidents involving human injuries or fatalities.
- Livestock Loss: Report instances of livestock losses.
- Crop Loss: Record damages to crops.
- Property Loss: Report property damage incidents.
Incident Details: Volunteers must provide details such as location, type of wildlife, presence of human casualties, property damage, livestock or crop losses, time & date of incident, and attach reference images.
SMS Notification: The app allows volunteers to notify forest officials about wildlife sightings. When an incident is reported, our backend system sends an SMS to the appropriate forest department using contact details stored in the system.
Record Access: Volunteers can review and edit previously recorded incidents through the app.
