Surah Yasin or Surah Ya Sin is the 36th chapter in the Koran. This chapter consists of 83 verses, and is included in the Makkiyah surahs. It is named Ya Sin because this surah begins with the two Arabic alphabets Ya Sin. Just as the hidden meaning of the letters of the Alif Lam Mim or Nun alphabet is located at the beginning of several chapters of the Koran, so is the meaning of Ya Sin which is included in the category of mutasyaabihat verses.
