The hadiths regarding the virtue of the remembrance of God are many and great, and it is stated in them that the remembrance of God - the Almighty - should be given precedence over all other supererogatory acts of obedience and worship, so they preceded others with the text of the hadith of the Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - even the supererogatory jihad for the sake of God, and that is nothing but the attachment of the memory’s heart On the authority of Abu Musa al-Ash’ari - may God be pleased with him - on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him: (The example of one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not remember Him is like the living and the dead).[1] On the authority of Abdullah bin Bisr, may God be pleased with him, said that a man said: O Messenger of God, the laws of Islam have been too much for me, so tell me something to cling to, and he said: (Your tongue is still moist from the remembrance of God Almighty). [2] On the authority of Abu Hurairah, he said: He was the Messenger of God. God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - was walking on the road to Mecca, so he passed a mountain called Jamdan, and he said: (Walk this Jamdan preceded the singles. They said: What are the singles? O Messenger of God. He said: “Those who remember God a lot, and the women who remember.”[3] Abu Dharr - may God be pleased with him - on the authority of the Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - said: (All my greetings become charity from one of you, so every glorification of God is charity, every praise of God is charity, every utterance of praise is charity, and every takbeer is charity).[4] On the authority of Abu Darda’ - Satisfied God on his authority - he said: The Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - said: (Should I not inform you of the best of your deeds, the purest in the sight of your Master, and the highest in your ranks, and it is better for you than spending gold and silver, and it is better for you than meeting your enemy and striking their necks and they striking your necks? They said: Yes, he said: Remembering God Almighty).[5] That the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, went out to a circle of his companions, and said: “What is sitting you?” He said: “Is God nothing but that seat for you?” They said: “By God, it is only that that seated us.” He said: “I did not make you swear to accuse you, but Gabriel came to me and informed me that God Almighty boasts of you to the angels.”
