The word 'Shab' in Persian means night. And the word 'Barat' means good fortune. In Arabic it is called 'Lailatul Barat', meaning the night of good luck. According to the commentary of the hadith, Allah forgives the sins of his servants on this night, frees them from hell. On this holy night, pious Muslims perform nafal prayers, recite the Qur'an and engage in dhikr in the hope of receiving the grace of the Most Merciful Allah. It is also a time to ask for forgiveness for past sins. At the same time, devout Muslims pray for the welfare of the future life.
