With the C/O Berlin app, images from the exhibition ‘Harald Hauswald . Voll das Leben! Reloaded’ will be digitally accessible at selected U-Bahn stations on the U2 line (Potsdamer Platz, Klosterstrasse, and Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz). When passers-by scan posters with their smartphones, their screens transform to show photographs by Hauswald.
The app allows people to travel back in time through Berlin and see long-time local Harald Hauswald’s photographs at the very spots where he took them between the late 1970s and mid-1990s. His authentic and tender photographs show communal life in East Germany, including documentations of oppositional groups, unique moments in everyday socialist life, and even photographs of the fall of the Wall, now a fixture in historical memories of a divided Germany.
Part of the exhibition ‘Harald Hauswald . Voll das Leben! Reloaded’ at C/O Berlin Foundation, Amerika Haus, Hardenbergstraße 22–24, 10623 Berlin. The exhibition is on view from December 11, 2021 to April 21, 2022.
