I'm a choir singer and was looking for apps to help me memorize new pieces. Unfortunately, I didn't find a good app that suited me. This is how the idea came about to develop an app myself and to combine two of my hobbies, singing and programming.
The “Choir to go” app is now aimed at anyone who wants to memorize pieces of music. It's basically an audio player for practice files with some special features specifically for this purpose:
- you select the directory on your phone/tab where your practice tracks of your current project are located as audio files
- You will then have all of your practice tracks immediately accessible via this app
- you can define practice tracks as favorites and focus pieces within the favorites
- Optional automatic playback of a playlist: either all pieces in the selected mp3 directory, all favorites or just the focus pieces
- you can define loops around critical points with one click
- you can adjust the pitch, tempo and volume individually for each practice track
- you can store tips and hints for a practice track
- if available, the texts stored in the mp3 lyrics tag are displayed as an mp3 file
- the app remembers all the settings you have made and will play the track again and again in playlist mode, even including the loop you have set
- Finally, you have the option of displaying your practice tracks with the original file names or letting the app process the name displayed in the app. This works surprisingly well if your practice tracks start with the title of the piece and are then further specified (e.g. "And so it goes Bass 1").
I would be happy to continue developing the app within the time available to me. Accordingly, I will also try to fix errors quickly. Please forgive me that this may take a little longer. I do this as a hobby and am sometimes on vacation, for example.
