For the 250th birthday of the great composer and visionary Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), the Bundeskunsthalle in cooperation with the Beethoven-Haus Bonn presents the central exhibition for the anniversary year 2020.
The show traces the most important stages in Beethoven's life and intertwines them with his musical work. It is divided into topics such as "Beethoven's view of himself", "friendships" and "business strategies", to which key musical works are assigned. It presents unique original exhibits and iconic portraits that introduce the composer's personality and at the same time question his common image in public. Original instruments and listening stations allow visitors to immerse themselves in historical soundscapes. Not only the way the composer works, but also the cultural-historical context of his life and impact history is illustrated.
The Bundeskunsthalle
The art and exhibition hall of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn, or Bundeskunsthalle for short, is a unique place of art, culture and science. At the center of the program is the art of all eras, including contemporary art, as well as exhibitions on cultural-historical topics and archeology, but also presentations on other areas of knowledge. The aim is not only to focus on western culture, but to show a global perspective.
In addition to the exhibitions, the Bundeskunsthalle offers its visitors an extensive educational program with socio-political discussions, tours, workshops and new, experimental formats. As a special event location, the forum of the Bundeskunsthalle also offers an independent program with concerts, theater, readings and lectures.
