The Varroa app is a comprehensive beekeeping app with all the functions required for beekeeping and beekeeping.
It supports beekeepers in determining the infestation, assessing the burden and treating bee colonies against the Varroa mite.
In addition to the own colonies, the determination also includes the influence of the environment, the assessment and the treatment instructions are based on the Bavarian Varroa treatment concept and include the different phases of the course (winter, spring, summer, reinvasion).
The app has an interface to Varroa weather and Trachtnet and outputs their data in relation to the currently selected location.

The basic functions of the Varroa app include location and colony management, in which any number of locations with any number of colonies can be created.
The evaluations in relation to the Varroa infestation, with regard to the assessment and in connection with the treatment instructions, require the input of the mite death on the Varroa slider. The input consists of the number of days and the number of mites found on the Varroa slider during this period.
Alternatively, the washing out and powdered sugar methods are also supported, whereby the examined bee weight and the number of mites are entered.
As soon as the corresponding data is available for a people, the people will be displayed in the traffic light colors (red, yellow, green) on the start page. A click on the people shows a corresponding short information.

Three menus, the main menu, the location menu and the people menu enable numerous functions.
Among other things, treatment instructions, location-related hive scale weights of the nearest scales, you can edit the colony yourself and also move it to another location. The treatment instructions also include the influence of the environment, i.e. your own colonies could all be displayed in green (okay), but a beekeeper colleague within a 3 km radius could have a stronger mite infestation. In this case, the beekeeper is given a corresponding warning.

Also integrated are complete stock card management and management as well as management of Varroa treatments with automatic management of a location-related inventory book (required by law).

The characteristics of each colony (queen, gentleness, swarm behavior, yield and much more) can be defined and tracked.

The treatment instructions are based on the Bavarian Varroa treatment concept, which is developed and published by the Institute for Apiculture and Beekeeping at the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture (LWG).

The coordinates of the location are saved in location management, but these are only used for the app functions described above. Nobody (except the database administrator) has access to this data and nobody can see or evaluate it. Address data is not saved.

A direct connection to the 'Varroa weather' also shows the weather forecast and the weather-related treatment options with the approved treatment agents based on the location. This display is done separately for colonies without brood and for colonies with brood on.

A web version is available at https://varroa-app.de, which runs in all common Internet browsers, including iOS devices. The Android and the web version work with the same data, i.e. a user can switch between the versions at will, on the go or at home, the current data is always available.
