Vide Resolution No. 1954 of the then Commerce and Industry Department for the regulation, examination and certification of technical educational institutions in the then East Pakistan. 188-Ind. Dated 27-01-54 a board named “East Pakistan Board of Examination for Technical Education” was established. The objective was to carry out the responsibility of management, supervision, control and development of technical and vocational education and training organizations in the country, conducting examinations, regulation and awarding diplomas/certificates to the persons who pass the examination conducted by the Board.
Then in view of the growing demand and need to set up a statutory body for formulation, development, regulation, certification, inspection and evaluation of Diploma in Engineering and Trade level curriculum. As a result, on March 7, 1967, Gazette No.-175 L.A. An institution named “East Pakistan Technical Education Board” was established by the Parliamentary Act No. 1, which is now known as Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
