The Official Guide of Calañas is an application, made with the intention of being a useful tool, for all residents and visitors, for its complete informative content, about our town, shown in the digital street map. The City Council presents this option for mobile phones, which are already part of our daily life, with which you will have Calañas in your hands.
When you open it, it offers a search by "Categories": shops, banks, health centers, pharmacies, associations, schools, where to eat, where to sleep, monuments..., which will take you to their location on the map, where you can consult and move around simple and fast.
If we choose the “Near me” module, it will indicate all the points of interest close to where we are. It uses GPS technology to guide us through the street map to the required place.
The application has the peculiarity of presenting images associated with the places we are looking for, as well as contact telephone numbers, email address, website and other information of interest. Allowing you to directly make phone calls or send emails or take us to your website.
You will see how our town is located in a privileged place, in the center of the province of Huelva, between the sea and the mountains, in the Andévalo region. Its monuments, among which are: The Santa María de Gracia Parish Church, the Town Hall and the Mercado de Abastos, have been declared assets of cultural interest (B.I.C), with a special charm and appeal.
Among the festivities and traditions, the Pilgrimage of Our Lady of Coronada should be noted as the main one, a celebration that dates back 300 years. These great days of Calañas, are lived with great emotion. The gastronomy has as exceptional, take Easter donuts, wine from the Virgin (a mixture of white wine and muscatel) and esesitas (typical Calañian sweet). Without forgetting the song and dance of sevillanas and fandangos, dressed as flamencos, all this, constituting part of our identity.
Throughout history, its main economic activity has been, and is, mining, with deposits of copper, pyrite and manganese.
We must highlight the temperament of our inhabitants, with a friendly character and signs of welcoming travelers.
