The Cambil and Arbuniel Guide app is a free tool part of the Unified Digital Street Map of Andalusia (CDAU) project and developed by the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia (IECA). This app offers detailed information about Cambil and Arbuniel, a unique enclave located in the Sierra Mágina region, in the province of Jaén. Its features include:

History and Heritage: Cambil is an ancient defensive settlement of Islamic origin that developed between the Egeño and Achuelo hills. Its old town has been declared a Historic Site for its architecture of whitewashed houses in a mountainous setting and winding layout. Its heritage includes the castles of Cambil and Alhabar, two strategic border fortresses during the Reconquista, as well as the 14th-century Mata Bejid Castle above Sierra Mágina. Also noteworthy are the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, with its Renaissance altarpiece, and the Old Baroque Hospital from the 18th century. In Arbuniel, archaeological remains highlight continuous occupation since the Neolithic period, with abundant ceramic finds, flint, and Roman remains.

Activities: Cambil is the gateway to the Sierra Mágina Natural Park. The Mata Bejid Visitor Center offers activities such as hiking, guided tours, mycology, and orientation. Popular routes start from there, such as the Peralejo Trail (short and family-friendly), the Route of the Viewpoints, and paths to the source of the Arbuniel River and Mata Bejid Castle. In Arbuniel, you can visit the famous Source of the Arbuniel River—a spring surrounded by vegetation, ideal for picnics and walks—as well as the Arroyo Salado hot springs, centuries-old poplar trees, a Natural Monument, and the Bercho Site.

Local Gastronomy: Cambil's traditional cuisine includes dishes such as crayfish soup, bean stew, migas (breadcrumbs), lamb in sauce, and pastries such as sponge cakes, roscos (fried doughnuts), and tortaspasas (raisins). Homemade must and the local soft drink aguacebá (a type of drink) are also typical. In Arbuniel, agricultural products linked to the olive grove (oil) predominate, along with a varied recipe collection influenced by Arab heritage, featuring fruit trees, hunting, trout and crab fishing, and artisan sausages such as chorizo and blood sausage.

Festivals and Traditions: In Cambil, the festival of the Santísimo Cristo del Mármol (Saint Christ of the Marble) is celebrated on the last weekend of February, including a procession to the hermitage and its solemn return. Also notable are the Cultural Week around Saint Anne's Day (July), the Fair in honor of the Virgin of the Rosary in August, and the lively Tamborá (a traditional tambourine festival) in December. In Arbuniel, the local identity is reflected in its architecture, rural traditions, and legends linked to the Roman and Arab past.

The app also includes an interactive street map to locate points of interest, bars, and restaurants, making it easier to plan your visit. Immerse yourself in the charm of Cambil and Arbuniel and enjoy a unique experience filled with history, nature, and mountain flavor.
