Smart Cities or smart cities are those that use the use of communication and information technologies for their economic and social development.
The Grouping of Municipalities Costa del Sol has been chosen for the development of the Initiative "Smart Costa del Sol" which seeks to promote the digital infrastructure of a number of municipalities in the province of Malaga with the aim of improving the social and economic well-being of their citizens.
Thanks to new technologies, these cities can optimize municipal public services, be more sustainable and efficient and better understand their inhabitants and visitors to readjust the value proposals towards them.
To transform the Costa del Sol into smart territory, the Smart Costa del Sol Initiative will implement the following components:

Smart platform, BI and dashboard
It will serve to interconnect all the components of the Initiative and will make it possible for municipalities to share data among themselves.

Open Data Portal
It will allow publishing the data generated in this project so that third parties, such as citizens and companies, can reuse them.

Smart Irrigation Management
It will make it possible to monitor water consumption and manage irrigation in city council parks.

Sensorization of Environmental Spaces
It will allow monitoring meteorological and state parameters to offer information about the spaces to citizens and tourists.

Smart parking
It will facilitate the management of parking spaces and the location of free spaces, thus promoting the optimization of routes, the improvement of mobility, fuel savings and the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Smart Public Lighting
By managing and controlling the lighting infrastructure, it will be possible to optimize the lighting of public spaces and favor municipal economic and energy savings.

Energy Efficiency in Buildings
Through the monitoring and management of energy consumption, it will be possible to carry out efficient use of air conditioning and lighting in certain official buildings.

Flow Control
Through a series of counting sensors installed in points of interest in the municipalities, it will be possible to know the use of the facilities and the number of visitors.

Tourist Big Data
It will provide knowledge about travel patterns on the Costa del Sol to improve the value proposition of the municipalities of the group.

E-learning Training System
Online training platform that will be used both for the training of the personnel involved in the Smart Costa del Sol Initiative and for environmental agents.

Costa del Sol Web Portal
It will be focused on giving the Initiative a presence on the Internet and will be destined both to offer a tourist promotion of the area and to expose the provision of services of interest to citizens and visitors.

Smart Costa del Sol App
It will also provide tourist information and features of interest to citizens and tourists.

"Flag-Ship" spaces
It will be a versatile place to promote the Smart Costa del Sol brand and bring technology closer to citizens.

Social Wifi
Through the deployment of Wi-Fi points, the connectivity of the municipalities will be improved and the access of citizens to municipal services will be facilitated.

Beacons
Low-consumption radio beacons that will transmit information about municipalities and tourist resources to visitors and citizens.
