With Casual Learn you can learn art history in a different way !! You can perform the tasks proposed by the application informally, for example while you are taking a walk. You can also actively search for new tasks thanks to the map screen where you are shown markers with the places where the tasks are located.

There are different types of tasks: taking photos, videos, answering short questions ... The application can also suggest you visit a monument similar in style to the one you are visiting so that you can compare them!

When you do a task, you can share the answer on different social networks like Twitter, Microsoft Teams or Instagram. You can also publish them in a portfolio that you can manage from the application.

For the application to notify you of new tasks with the application closed, it will need to know your location in the background. You will only get the position when the minimum interval timer between notifications expires and until you are notified of a new task. With this process you only need to download the tasks tasks from the area in which you are.

Casual Learn is an application to learn art history while you walk. Carry out the proposed tasks to notice certain details or reflect on various aspects of the monuments you find. Currently it focuses on monuments in Castilla y León. You can use it during your regular walks or when you visit the municipalities of Castilla y León.

The assignments offered by Casual Learn have been proposed by teachers as well as experts in educational technology. These are tasks that are interesting to any type of public that wants to learn about the history of art in Castilla y León.

To generate the Casual Learn tasks, Open Data offered by the Junta de Castilla y León, by DBpedia and by Wikidata have been used. Thus, more than 13,000 tasks have been created and geolocated semi-automatically. These tasks are offered, in turn, as Open Data for anyone who wants to use them.

Casual Learn is an application designed and developed by the GSIC-EMIC group of the University of Valladolid. GSIC-EMIC is a research group made up of engineers and educators who are experts in educational technology, pedagogical practice, the Data Web, and educational data management.
