Built in the 14th century on top of Mount Andaon, this royal fortress has plenty for visitors to enjoy, including its military architecture, which was characteristic of the period and made it an impregnable stronghold, its breathtaking views across Avignon and the surrounding areas and a wander around inside its towers, terraces and curtain wall. Your visit will take you back in time to give you an idea of what life was like at the royal garrison and for the many prisoners of war and other residents to which the Fort has been home over the course of its history.
