One of the main principles in the justice system in the world is an open or transparent trial. Openness is the key to the birth of accountability. It is hoped that judges and court officials will be more professional in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.

In addition, information disclosure, which is essentially the right for the public to access information, is one of the human rights as affirmed in the 1945 Constitution. Based on this consideration, the Supreme Court (MA) issued a Decree of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Number 144/KMA/SK/VIII/ 2007 on Information Disclosure in Courts.

The development of this electronic 'Directory of Decisions' is one of the implementations of the Chief Justice's Decree, with the aim of ensuring that complete information is available to the public quickly and cheaply.

The KMA's decision, among others, regulates the types of information that must be pro-actively announced by the court and the mechanism for its announcement. The information in question is what is considered important to be known by justice seekers and the public, including court decisions and decisions.

Decisions or decisions that are not yet legally binding but attract public attention, such as cases of corruption, drugs, or terrorism, can also be issued by the court.

In order to maintain the privacy and dignity of certain parties in cases such as domestic violence, crimes of decency, adoption of children, crimes of children or cases related to marriage, according to the decision, the Supreme Court must obscure their identities.

The mechanism for the announcement of information on decisions and court decisions is adjusted to the financial condition and infrastructure owned by the court. Because the Supreme Court already has a website, information on decisions and decisions is posted on the Supreme Court's website through this 'Directory of Decisions'.

This Decisions Directory is a continuation of the previous version and is the result of collaboration between the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia and the Australia Indonesia Partnership in the context of information disclosure.
