BigFoot is 100% off line app - the map (Wicklow Mountains) is stored on SD card and the app uses only GPS. Battery saving is done through limiting GPS fixes only when the user is looking at the map.
BigFoot is also using compass to rotate the map according to current bearing - map's top always faces north. When map rotation is on there's also bearing line visible to help the user identify terrain features.
In case of lost connection with satellites (heavy fog, dense forest, staying indoors, etc.) it's possible to add position in "emergency mode" by long click on the map. "Emergency mode" is also available when user's position is outside the map
The map has scroll limits to prevent over scrolling.
BigFoot doesn't provide any tracking or route plotting features (not yet).
BigFoot works on phone as well as on tablet (with GPS sensor) and changes between portrait and landscape without loosing map focus, zoom or compass bearing.
