Meditations is one of the most important works of the Roman philosophical legacy. Written by Emperor Marcus Aurelius between 170 and 180, it represents one of the most interesting views of classical Stoicism. Marcus Aurelius was an emperor whose reign was marked by invasions, rebellions, betrayals, and even some of the worst plagues in Roman history. However, due to the stoic and thoughtful character of the emperor, he was always able to overcome calamities.
