Forest Arboretum named after prof. Stefana Białobok in the Syców Forest District is a specialized forest farm carrying out work related to the selection and seeding of forest trees, preservation of forest genetic resources and active nature protection in the areas managed by the State Forest Holding, State Forests Syców Forest District.

At the same time, the Forest Arboretum is one of the largest botanical gardens in Poland. The area of ​​the facility is over 651 ha, of which approximately 85 ha is open to tourists
and recreationally.

What distinguishes our unit from other arboretums and botanical gardens is an extremely extensive system of conservation areas for ex situ protection (outside the natural place of occurrence) of naturally and economically valuable plant species associated with forest ecosystems. These areas are not available for tourists and recreation, even though they constitute one of the most important elements of the Forest Arboretum and are its integral part.

The central part of the arboretum is a collection of trees and shrubs, which is the main tourist attraction of the facility. One of the richest collections of pine trees in the country deserves special attention. The Arboretum also boasts rich collections of rhododendrons and protected plants and rare elements of Polish flora. The area includes characteristic places such as alpinaria with collections of alpine plants, collection areas with plantings of ornamental grasses and perennials, a complex of water reservoirs with collections of aquatic plants, a seed plantation of European larch (Larix decidua) and a place with the planted Papal Oak, a descendant of the Oak Natural Monument. Intrepid.

The facility was built in 1990. First, it was a forest nursery, which was transformed into an arboretum in 1994. In 1995, the Director of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Poznań established a statute giving the facility the official name "Forest Arboretum. prof. Stefan Białobok in Syców. The ceremonial opening of the Arboretum took place on November 10, 1995. The Arboretum was named after Professor Stefan Białobok - one of the leading Polish dendrologists.
