SMSbook is a compilation of a large number of short messages “SMS" exchanged by cell phone between four close friends, represented here by the nicknames: ANDER, AITOR, ELENA and _después_. All these messages are characterized because they are not trivial, they had to be written, they were something that had to be said and had to be read, they are full of poetry and sincerity, and they can be words to get into the self-knowledge of those who read them.
When we need to tell someone what is going on inside us, and no one is around to hear us, having a means of contacting friends is a light in the darkness. Short messages (sms) were the beginning of a quick way to send a “shout” immediately without the need to talk to those who should “listen”, they were not the origin, as letters and telegrams already existed, nor would they be the most efficient way, but they had an enormous value and significance.
The limitation of characters of the sms implied to concretize the feeling, and nevertheless sometimes it was very difficult, reason for which long messages appear that are the union of what were several made to arrive in a consecutive way.
We hope that by reading them you will find the ins and outs of this singular interaction, the deepest meanings of a few letters that, as Jodorowsky would say, only pretend to “sink the tongue into the abyss and use words as a mirror”.
