The Constitution of 22 September 1960 establishes a highly centralized presidential regime. After the military coup of November 19, 1968, it was repealed and replaced by a fundamental law on November 28, 1968 (Ordinance No. 1 of the CMLN on the Organization of Public Authorities) pending a constitutional referendum1.
The Constitution of 2 June 1974 is adopted by referendum with 99% of yes. The military remains alone in power with a single party.
