EATING WELL AND SAFETY aims to prevent pathologies, sometimes fatal, linked to dysfunctional swallowing.
The main objective is to make the dimensions of the problem known and to acquire basic information to evaluate and recognize the signs and symptoms of dysphagia so as to intervene early and effectively, avoiding frequent and serious consequences such as malnutrition, ab ingestis pneumonia and social isolation.
There is also the need to promote social isolation prevention programs starting from the moment of the meal, a fundamental moment of meeting and sharing. Too many times the person is discharged from hospital facilities and finds himself living in a state of abandonment on the part of the institutions unable to support the return to everyday life and the rehabilitation of the environment around him.
The activities carried out through the app are:

1. Connect the caregiver (family members, assistants) with the specialists who adhere to the awareness program during the chronic phase;

2. Provide an indirect support pathway to support the direct rehabilitation pathways following hospital admission.

3. Inform and train the caregiver and the user by making them more independent in the safe management of the meal.

The app includes a basic form (direct download) with different information sections, video tutorials and general tips.

In the future, a complete form (indirect download) dedicated to greater customization of the route is expected. A short questionnaire will act as the first step of a path that will gradually be articulated in advice for posture, compensation techniques, adoption of ideal consistencies for the meal to be taken.
