Helpinet is a new application designed to facilitate connections between citizens, homeless people, and social welfare services operating in the Rome area. It was developed by Binario 95, which has been working with homelessness and social hardship for over twenty years.
The app's goal is to facilitate immediate contact between those living in extreme marginalization and those who can offer support, through several features:
- Geolocalized mapping of local assistance services where homeless people can find concrete answers to their needs: shelter, meals, medical care, counseling and support, etc.
- The ability for homeless people to directly send a request to Helpinet's multidisciplinary team (social workers, psychologists, mediators, social workers), communicating a need or requesting information. This will be followed, when possible, by direct referral to local services capable of addressing the situation.
- Citizens can communicate to Helpinet staff any situations of greatest need in the city they are aware of, thus collaborating with social services.
The app also offers useful information for those living on the streets: from personal hygiene to how to cope with heat and cold, with helpful tips for protecting oneself in every season.
Through Helpinet, technology becomes an ally of change and a stimulus to build a more caring, inclusive, and supportive city.
The app is designed to expand its information offerings thanks to the contributions of institutions, organizations, or citizens who wish to report the availability of new services through the appropriate contact channels.
Join the citizen solidarity network and download the app to seek help or to lend a hand.
