ZeccApp is an application developed to monitor the presence of ticks in Italy through users’ reports, within a citizen science perspective.
ZeccApp users can: send images of ticks (found on themselves, on pets, or vegetation) directly from their mobile device; report the location where the tick was found; add details about the environment and activities carried out at the time the tick was found.
Users can also consult an interactive map, which displays all validated tick reports. Registered users can also track the status of their reports, verifying whether they have been validated or not and the tick species involved. All submitted images are checked and validated by expert staff at the Edmund Mach Foundation, and the data collected will be used exclusively for scientific purposes.
ZeccApp was created and is owned by the Edmund Mach Foundation, San Michele all’Adige (Trento, Italy).
Thanks to their reports, users will be able to actively contribute to the research and surveillance of these public health relevant parasites
