Designed and created on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the Italian Communist Party, the "100 places for 100 years" application tells the story of the communists and the history of twentieth-century Italy through a virtual map made up of 100 places significant for that history and a timeline that marks the succession of events.
The map and the timeline allow us to read contemporary history through the spatial and temporal dimensions simultaneously.
The map displays the places and makes the documents (texts, videos, audio and images) accessible through in-depth information sheets.
The timeline displays the same places ordered over time and also allows access to the in-depth information sheets. If necessary, the timeline can also be displayed in alphabetical order.
The in-depth information sheets with explanatory title and subtitle refer to the places and dates of the events and tell those stories through a text accompanied by video, audio, photographs and original archive documents.
The application allows you to obtain directions for physically visiting the places in the list and provides a reminder of all the places visited. It also allows you to insert a "like" on the individual place cards and consult the rankings of the most visited places and of those who received greater approval.
Finally, with a view to expanding the project, the application allows you to report places that are not present. These will be collected and, after verifying the relevant documentation, they will be published in subsequent updates, mentioning, with prior consent, the person who reported them, on the credits page.
The application automatically reports via notification, if notifications are active, the user's proximity to a place of interest belonging to the list of 100 places.
